Images from my morning

Today has moody, winter sunlight that makes it perfect for a Noah Gundersen song.

I had surgery yesterday, and all went very well. Had some trouble getting enough oxygen in my blood afterward, and had to wear the mask and nose tubes for longer than I'm used to, but once I got home and slept it off, it was all good. I am convinced that general anesthesia can really cause problems with joint inflammation. It's all anecdotal evidence, but my arthritis problems started in 2009, after 3 procedures when I was put under. When I got home, my back and wrists were aching so bad. Luckily, Aleve helps.

So, today we have a wee respite from somber cold days, and I spread out a sheet in the front yard and brought out my hot tea and reading material. My camera battery has been dead for weeks, and I finally found my charger. I can't believe I don't have any decent photos of the kids' birthdays. That's the kind of stuff I live for.

I checked out Reimagining Church by Frank Viola, A Generous Orthodoxy by Brian Mclaren, and Guide to the Reformed Tradition Church by William M. Alston, Jr. I also received my Modern Reformation magazine in the mail.

My dog chewed up A Generous Orthodoxy the night before my surgery, so I was really hoping I'd like it enough to not cringe when I have to pay full price for it in fees. It's an interesting enough read. I'm kind of burned out with the whole emergent scene, and I think he stereotypes other movements. I'm an open-minded person though, and I appreciate the insights I've gained from the books by Viola and McLaren. This chapter pictured is about what he feels needs to change in the Reformed tradition.

Today I got to wear a sundress with my faded denim western shirt over it.

One of my chicken's toes was bleeding pretty bad; she must have cut it on fencing or something. I took her inside, cleaned it, and doctored her up. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

My neighbor's tree with berries.

Now that my surgery is over, I'm looking forward to having the energy to do the things I love again. Taking photos, going for walks and bike rides, making things.

  1. Hey, hope you're feeling better. I'm out of the loop, I know, but what did you have surgery for?
